A Family Climbing and Fitness Center

Vertical Adventures Training Center (VATC) is a 6,000-sq. foot climbing and fitness facility wholly dedicated to families. We are one of only three in the United States and have been training youth athletes and their families since 1999. VATC is the perfect recreational space for families because we encourage children to be children: (curious, energetic, boisterous, kinda like monkeys) and anticipate parents joining in the fun. We scale everything to fit children yet still appeal to adults: climbing wall height, reach, obstacles and activities.

The communal and collaborative nature of climbing makes it a great family activity. Individuals of differing skill levels and ages can participate together. It builds relational trust, unites climbers in a common goal, “us against the wall”, and promotes self-expression and problem solving within a group.

VATC Families Climbing

Our philosophy is rooted in the belief that the sport of climbing is the perfect laboratory for life.  Climbing is a whole-body work-out—physical, cognitive and emotional. Climbing achieves mainstream fitness goals while also developing the foundational skills necessary for any physical pursuit: proprioception (spatial awareness), vestibular (balance and movement) and advanced planning. Additionally, climbing teaches problem-solving, dealing with failure, risk management, collaboration and is a whole lot of fun!
