FAQ

Below you will find some answers to our most frequently asked questions. If you have any additional questions feel free to contact us.

DO I NEED TO TAKE A CLASS, MAKE A RESERVATION OR HAVE A MEMBERSHIP TO CLIMB AT YOUR GYM?

Vertical Adventures is open to the public during our normal hours of operation. With the purchase of a day pass, punch pass or membership a person may use the facility. If you would like to attend a class, a reservation would be required.

IS CLIMBING A GOOD WORKOUT?

Rock climbing is about much more than getting a good workout and releasing stress. It’s a versatile, physically and mentally demanding sport that tests strength, endurance, agility, balance and mental control. Virtually all major muscle groups are incorporated in climbing: abs, obliques, delts, traps, biceps, lats, quads and calves. Because it is so engaging, climbers often don’t realize how hard they are actually working.

MY HUSBAND AND I WANT TO TRY CLIMBING BUT I ONLY WEIGH 130 LBS AND MY HUSBAND WEIGHS 230, HOW AM I GOING TO HOLD HIM?

The equipment is designed so that someone lighter can hold someone heavier. Our top rope system and ballast equipment are designed to hold someone up to 300 lbs.

ARE THERE ANY AGE, HEIGHT OR WEIGHT RESTRICTIONS?

Anyone under 18 must have a parent or guardian sign a waiver to use the facility. You must be at least 14 years old to hold the rope for someone else. Approved members of the Vertical Adventures Climbing Team or another authorized climbing team, or current members of USA Climbing SCS may belay under the age of 14. There is no height requirement. The maximum weight the equipment allows is 300 pounds.

Participants 4 – 13 years old must follow our Supervision Guidelines in order to utilize the bouldering and auto belays. An exception to this would be an approved member of the Vertical Adventures Climbing Team, or another authorized climbing team, or current members of USA Climbing.

CAN I BRING MY KIDS?

Absolutely!!! Climbing is fun for the whole family and perfect for all ages. Keep in mind we also have a facility dedicated to youth programming.

HOW MUCH TIME DO I HAVE TO CLIMB AFTER GETTING A DAY PASS?

You are welcome to enjoy the gym from open until close with the purchase of a day pass. If you schedule the Rope 101: Intro to Climbing class, where you learn how to manage the rope for someone else, plan for about 90 minutes of instruction. Some people will stay for a couple of hours the first time. Others will pack a lunch or leave and come back to truly make the most of the day pass.
